About the role

We are seeking a talented Electrical Design Engineer to join our Electrical Engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and integrating electrical systems that power and control autonomous vessels, ensuring seamless operation, safety, and compliance with industry standards.

What you'll be doing

  • Electrical System Design for Autonomy: Develop and design electrical systems for autonomous vessels, including power distribution, propulsion control, sensor integration, and communication networks.
  • Integration with Autonomous Systems: Collaborate with software and control engineers to integrate electrical systems with onboard autonomous navigation and control systems.
  • Compliance with Standards: Ensure all electrical designs comply with relevant maritime regulations and standards for autonomous vessels and classification society requirements.
  • System Testing and Validation: Oversee the testing and validation of electrical systems.
  • Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with naval architects, mechanical engineers, and software developers to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems into the overall vessel design.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and compliance reports.

What we're looking for

  • Education: Degree in Electrical Engineering/related field or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years' experience in electrical design within the marine industry.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g. AutoCAD), and a solid understanding of electrical principles and marine systems.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with marine electrical standards.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to address complex engineering challenges in autonomous systems.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly to multidisciplinary teams.

Desirable experience

  • Experience with autonomous navigation and control systems, including sensor integration (e.g., LIDAR, radar, GPS).
  • Knowledge of communication protocols and networks used in autonomous vessels (e.g., Ethernet, CAN bus, NMEA 2000).
  • Familiarity with power management systems for electric and hybrid propulsion.

How you'll work

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including software engineers, naval architects, and mechanical engineers to deliver fully integrated vessel systems
  • Take ownership of electrical design activities from concept through to testing, validation, and delivery
  • Apply a structured, detail-focused approach to ensure designs meet maritime regulations and safety standards
  • Use your technical expertise and judgement to solve complex engineering challenges in autonomous marine systems
  • Manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced, innovative environment
  • Communicate clearly through technical documentation, reporting, and cross-team engagement
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve system performance, processes, and integration
  • Contribute to a collaborative and high-performing engineering culture

Why join us?

  • Work at the forefront of autonomous vessel and marine technology
  • Be part of a highly skilled, collaborative engineering team
  • Contribute to innovative projects across autonomy, electrification, and advanced control systems
  • Gain exposure to the full development lifecycle, from design to real-world testing
  • Play a key role in delivering safe, sustainable, and future-focused maritime solutions
