The IT & Security team works in a fast-paced environment at the intersection of cutting-edge maritime technology and defence capability requirements. The Business Systems Engineer supports, administers and improves Kraken’s full portfolio of business systems, including PLM, MRP, MES, project and work management, finance, HR, reporting and collaboration platforms. The role balances priorities across engineering, operations and corporate functions rather than focusing on any single application.
What you'll be doing
- Support teams across Kraken in the effective use of key business systems
- Develop and implement best practices, approval workflows, access controls and change management processes
- Work closely with stakeholders across engineering, project management, procurement, production and corporate functions to improve data quality, integration and process consistency between business systems
- Administer and maintain business applications to ensure reliability, security and accuracy; troubleshoot issues, coordinate upgrades and manage relationships with software vendors and support partners
- Identify, assess and prioritise system improvements, integrations and automation opportunities in line with business needs and technical constraints
- Provide user training, documentation and support to build capability and improve quality and efficiency
- Contribute to continuous improvement and business-wide digital collaboration while maintaining appropriate standards for data, security and compliance
What we're looking for
- Recent and relevant hands-on experience administering, supporting or improving business-critical software platforms
- Previous experience within a technical product development, manufacturing or similarly complex operational environment
- Strong understanding of business processes, system governance, data structures and workflows, including approvals, access control and change management
- Ability to analyse requirements, balance competing priorities and translate business needs into practical system improvements
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Desirable experience
- Experience with systems such as Teamcenter, Siemens NX, Visual Factory, Jira and Microsoft 365 applications
- Experience integrating systems, automating workflows, reporting on data or configuring business applications
- Previous experience within the marine industry, specifically relating to composite boat building
- Knowledge of marine industry regulatory standards and compliance documentation
- Experience with scripting, low-code automation, APIs or application customisation
How you'll work
You’ll work across the business, partnering with teams in engineering, project management, procurement, production and corporate functions. You’ll balance competing priorities while improving how Kraken’s business systems connect, share data and support day-to-day operations.
The role combines hands-on system administration with process improvement, stakeholder engagement, user support and training. You’ll manage issues, upgrades and supplier relationships while identifying practical opportunities for integration, automation and more effective digital collaboration.
Why join us?
This is an opportunity to work across Kraken’s full portfolio of business systems rather than being limited to a single platform. You’ll help shape the tools and processes used across the organisation, with the freedom to identify improvements that make a visible difference to quality, consistency and efficiency.
You’ll join a forward-thinking technology environment where your work will directly support engineering, operations and corporate teams as they deliver complex maritime technology and defence capabilities.
